The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, who arrived on Tuesday Somalia in Mogadishu, announced that President Hassan Sheikh discussed cooperation between the states “danger” of conflict between the authorities.
Guterres, who spoke to the press, said that the talks he had with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud discussed how the United Nations system would continue to support Somalia, in order to continue this positive development.

He said he underlined the importance of strong cooperation between the federal government and the member states of the federation in order to prevent security threats from the Al-Shabab terrorist group, which is fighting in some parts of the country.

“I commended the efforts of the President to promote peace and security. The United Nations is committed to supporting national and regional efforts to protect human rights and combat terrorism and violent extremism,” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Gutteres also said that in the past six years since his previous visit, he has seen progress in terms of peace, security and sustainable development.
“A safe and inclusive public space is essential for good governance and can help prevent and reduce violence. The full participation of Somali women and youth in the political arena, including the revision of the constitution, is essential.”
