Somalia’s president of Puntland state, Mr. Said Abdullahi Deni spoke for the first time in detail about the agreement of the National Consultative Council that was reached on the 27th of this month in Villa Somalia. Deni revealed that Puntland was not part of the decisions that came out and was absent at the time of making them, due to the conflict between the government.

The President of Puntland pointed out that the country is being led to the wrong place, and this is the reason why they refused to participate in the meetings of the National Consultative Council.

“Puntland is not part of the decisions that have come out. We missed the previous ones and we did not sign them. We saw that the country is being led in the wrong direction,” said Said Deni.

He also added that Puntland should act independently, and at the same time dictate its Constitution, as he argued.

“The constitution of Puntland instructs us to act in a special way as long as a sane Somali government is found,” the president said again.

Said Deni continued to strongly oppose the abolition of the position of the prime minister, accusing President Hassan Sheikh of having already taken over the entire work of the prime minister’s office, as he said.

“We have seen the way the president has been acting, he first abolished the division of powers of the Prime Minister’s Office and took his powers, said president of the Puntland state.

Finally, he suggested that if Somalia’s instability is to be resolved, Hargeisa administration should come to the table and find a solution together.
