Rep. Ilhan Omar compared President Trump’s administration to Somalian dictatorships she witnessed growing up. “As a little girl, I witnessed what happens when you do not have a peaceful transfer of power,” the Minnesota Democrat tweeted Thursday. “It leads to instability, violence, and sometimes war. For the first time, I fear that could happen in this country, and it’s gonna take all of us to prevent it.”

“The best way to ensure it doesn’t is with overwhelming mobilization and voter turnout from all who still believe in democracy,” she added. “I am organizing like hell to make that happen.”

The best way to ensure it doesn’t is with overwhelming mobilization and voter turnout from all who still believe in democracy. I am organizing like hell to make that happen. I hope you will too. Omar moved to the United States in the 1990s after the Somali Civil War began in 1991. She has since cemented her place in U.S. politics as one of the more liberal lawmakers and is a member of the “Squad.”

Some on the Left have voiced concerns that Trump won’t leave the White House if he loses in November, including concerns from Rep. James Clyburn.

“This guy really does not plan to go quietly if he is not reelected,” the South Carolina Democrat said last month. “This guy intends to install himself … to be president for life. Omar’s tweets come as a reminder to those in her district to vote ahead of the November election. She is up against Lacy Johnson in the general election, who has established himself as a conservative candidate with Trump’s support.

“And I’m Endorsing you also Lacy, you truly deserve it. You are doing a great job, and Omar is a disaster who wants much higher taxes, hates our Military & our Vets, demands Open Borders, and is fighting to take away our great 2nd Amendment. Good luck Lacy!” Trump tweeted earlier this year.
