The administrations of Puntland and Jubaland tonight issued a joint statement on the agreement reached between President Farmajo and some regional administration leaders who attended the Dhusamareb 3 conference. The statement said Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni and Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam held a telephone conference to discuss the 2021 elections and the Dhusamareb Conference.

The statement said political unrest took place between the Dhusamareb 2 and 3 conferences, which the Jubaland and Puntland administrations had previously discussed and made recommendations. They said the agreement reached in Dhusamareb was limited to the participating leaders and was not part of, and was not represented at, the Dhusamareb conference.

The Presidents of Puntland and Jubaland have reached a four-point resolution.




The Governments of Jubaland and Puntland respect the views of the participants, and state that the provisions of the Dhusamareb Conference on 19 August 2020 on the proposition of the country’s electoral process are those of the participating leaders, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Presidents of Galmudug, Hirshabelle. and Southwest.

The governments of Jubaland and Puntland declare that they are not part of, and are not represented in, the Dhusamareb conference. State government is always ready to make every effort to achieve full implementation of the 2020/2021 elections, to be in time, to conventional and peace process through technical and administrative hold elections.
