Senator Mohamud Ahmed Mohamud Mashruc of the Upper House of the Somali Parliament has warned that Puntland students should not be punished for the political rivalry between Villa Somalia and the Puntland administration. Somali Minister of Education Abdullahi Godah Barre recently said that Puntland students would not receive a federal diploma unless his ministry took the exams in Puntland, which was rejected by the Puntland administration. Thousands of Puntland students have fallen victim.
Senator Mashruc wrote on his Facebook page that “Puntland students do not deserve to be punished because of the conflicting policies of Villa Somalia and the Puntland administration, and called on the central and regional governments to come up with a solution.’
“If the central and state governments have failed to provide free education services to every Somali student in the country; sitting there to come up with a policy guide, develops, awarded through the efforts of parents and citizens, “said Senator project. Senator Mashruc was one of the lawmakers from Puntland who has been working hard for some time to find a solution to the dispute over the diplomas of Puntland students, and he described it as unfortunate that there is no solution to this issue for two years.
“I am deeply saddened that for almost two years there has been a lack of resolution to the dispute between Puntland and the Federal Government over the certification of the Federal Government and the lack of co-operation between the two ministries,” he said. “It is a pity that many students from Puntland who contacted me told me that they were two years late for going to university and that they could be delayed for a third year if there was no solution and that they could get a degree in Puntland. ”
The Senator Mashruc also noted that Somali Minister of Education Abdullahi Godah Barre has previously acknowledged the poor state of education in Puntland. “When we called Minister Godah as Puntland’s senator, he acknowledged in front of us that Puntland’s Ministry of Education is mature and has learned a lot from its 20-year experience,” he said.
Senator Mashruc called for the country’s negative policies not to affect the future of children. “Negative policies that undermine the future of Somali children do not reflect a system of government, and should be avoided so that the next generation of Somalis can achieve their goals,” the statement said.
“Since the end of the school year 2019/2020, it is time to give priority to Villa Somalia as they would ban illegal Puntland the students, which meets next consultation meetings would consider.” He concluded, “Every Somali student has a constitutional right to education, and the Somali government (at the federal and state levels) facilitates the provision of first-class education at all levels.”
