The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdirahman Duale Beyle, speaking to state media, denied a statement from Khaire, describing how the Federal Government of Somalia is financially preparing for the upcoming elections in the country.

Beyle said the cost of the election is estimated at $ 40 million, in collaboration with the federal government and the international community. The minister noted that 10% of the $ 4 million will be provided by the Somali government, which is set out in the 2021 budget.

“The money is earmarked for a wide range of electoral activities, such as trips to the Federal and State Elections Commissions, residences, employment offices, mission training and staff bonuses,” said the Somali federal government’s finance minister. . He added that the money would not be misappropriated and would only be used to hold elections.

“There will be no more money to be used for the election, and it cannot happen. The minister cannot even withdraw money from the state treasury, because the financial system is against it,” added Minister Abdirahman Duale Beyle.

Beyle responded to allegations by former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire that the Somali government had been cut off from some of its international partners.

Beyle dismissed the allegations, saying no government or international organization had stopped providing funds to Somalia due to the upcoming elections.
