Somali lawmaker Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, one of the members of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, has criticized President Hassan Sheikh’s plan to amend the constitution.

“Hassan Sheikh’s is running the country now as he own and it is clear. In the meetings that represent the country, the parliamentarians who receive him do not argue about that,” he said an interview with outlet media.

Abdirahman Abdishakur, who is famous for being an opposition, is described by some people as expressing himself in an unabashed way, and sometimes he is described as a university teacher who comments on the politics of Somalia, which is different from other politicians.

“Don’t waste money, power and time as a president on that. If they pass the Parliament, even I will not accept it,” he said.

He described the trust of the communities as one of the basis of this parliamentary process and it is not possible for a president to take power by taking the example of the governor of Puntland and Somaliland which is currently not possible to hold elections in these two administrations.

Amendments to the constitution have already been rejected by former presidents and prime ministers who warned that the balance of executive power in the federal government would be imbalanced.

Puntland has recently reiterated that it was never part of that and does not accept it Hassan Sheikh’s plan to amend the constitution of Somalia.
