Somali warlord Muse Bihi has committed crimes against humanity in Las Anod

The artillery shelling on the town has caused extensive damage to buildings. Hargeisa SNM militia forces stationed on the outskirts of the town have been responsible.

The shelling coincided with a growing call for peace talks to end the conflict in the Sool region.

According to residents told Somali Times, the Hargeisa SNM militia forces targeted the SSC elders’ residence in the town, but no casualties were inflicted on the elders.




SSC forces spokesperson said Hargeisa SNM militia is bombing the town with mortars daily, intending to massacre the people. He reiterated that peace talks between SSC forces and Hargeisa SNM militia are only possible once Hargeisa SNM militia forces leave Las Anod.

According to an interagency assessment report published on February 13th, 2023, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 170 people, including a mother and her seven children.




The international community has declared that it strongly condemns genocide committed by warlord Muse Bihi Abdi and the continuation of the war in Las Anod, which has caused deaths, injuries and also heavy destruction committed by warlord Muse Bihi.

Warlords Muse Bihi, Mohamed Kahin with their Hargeisa SNM militia are shelling, bombing hospitals, mosques and massacring women and children, examples of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Warlords Muse Bihi and Mohamed Kahin with their militia must be held accountable for massacring women, children and bombing Las Anod General Hospital. Crimes against humanity should have consequences.
