Somalia and Turkey discussed energy cooperation




The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Alparslan Bayraktar and Abdirisaq Omar Mohamed, the Minister of Petroleum and Minerals of Somalia, discussed the energy cooperation between the two countries.

Bayraktar received the Minister of Petroleum and Minerals Abdirisaq Omar at his ministry in the capital Ankara.

During the meeting, they discussed measures to improve bilateral cooperation in the field of energy. They said that the two countries will continue efforts to improve energy cooperation.

Turkey, a close friend of Somalia, has invested in education, infrastructure and health in Somalia, and has provided extensive humanitarian aid.

Recently the two countries signed a major agreement on maritime defense cooperation. This agreement helps Somalia in securing the security of the country’s coasts.

Turkey currently has the largest embassy in Africa in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, and it has also built the largest training center for the Somali national army there.
