This followed intelligence reports that a UAE-owned military aircraft had entered Somali airspace without permission, “carrying the leader of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Aydar al-Zubaydi,” who had escaped while he was expected to attend talks in Saudi Arabia.

As per the information of Somali Times, up to 4 aircraft carrying equipment and passengers left Mogadishu, while 6 others were allowed to evacuate any military equipment from Bosaso.

Relations between Mogadishu and UAE are currently in their most difficult days, with Somalia directly siding with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting its leadership in Yemen’s internal affairs.
