Somalia: Puntland governor Said Deni is behind the Guriel War

Puntland governor Said Deni’s involvement of violence in Guriel, and provides weapons to Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a militia supported by Kenya and United Arab Emirates.

The Puntland regional administration has involvement in the ongoing clashes in the town of Guriel between the Galmudug administration and Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a militia terrorising their own community.

There were reports that Puntland had provided support to Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a militia, sources from Somali officials told Somali Times.




Said Deni is a puppet working for Kenya and UAE creating conflict and hatred between the Galmudug community. It is known that the destruction of Galmudug is the happiness of Foreign actors and allied Said Deni, who was saddened by what was happening in Guriel and Galmudug community.

The governor of Galmudug Ahmed Abdi Karie said that the conflict in Guriel involved Somalis and foreigners, and said that they will present official evidence.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Galmudug forces seized weapons from Puntland, Guriel for supporting Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a, Galmudug and the federal government forces managed to take control of Guriel on Saturday afternoon. They held onto the town despite an militia offensive on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
