Members including former President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, former Prime Ministers Hassan Ali Khaire, Mohamed Hussein Roble, and Abdirahman Abdishakur, who held a press conference in Mogadishu, described the Mogadishu elections as one-sided and could not be called an election.

They said they would not recognize the results of the elections, describing them as being run by President Hassan Sheikh and his family have become dictators through one-party elections, alone and without any challengers.

The oppositions said include that the company managing the election equipment is owned by members of President Hassan Sheikh’s JSP party, and that it is not known who will be elected.

The Somali Future Council said that what is taking place in Mogadishu is not a legitimate election, but one with a specific purpose related to extending the time.
