Officials of the Dervish army in the Ayn region have spoken out Puntland’s that it pays the salaries of thousands of members of the SSC-Khatumo administration’s defence forces.

Colonel Abdirahman Abdillahi Ahmed (Afweyne), who was the Commander of the Puntland Dervish army in Ayn region before the establishment of the SSC-Khatumo administration, confirmed that Puntland pays the salaries of more than 1,000 soldiers defending Ayn region, consisting of Dervish and police.

On the other hand, the commander said that the Puntland paid forces defending Sool region take orders from Vice President Ilyas Lugator, former Vice President Ahmed Karash, Colonel Mubaarik Jiqda and Colonel Bacayos.

The Minister of Information of SSC-Khatumo recently denied reports that Puntland pays the salaries of some of the troops stationed on the front lines defending the SSC-Khatumo areas, which Puntland said it pays $1.8 million in salaries and benefits each month.
