The latest Farmajo and regional leaders reached an agreement

The Federal Government of Somalia and the heads of the country’s regional administrations have reached an agreement on most of the contentious issues at the conference in Mogadishu, 

According to sources President Farmajo advisor told Somali Times, it is understood the terms of the debate most, and changes took place. The issue of the constituency was a difficult one to come to a compromise, with the election taking place in the capitals of the regional administrations and two other cities, while the number of delegates was agreed to be 101 members.




President Farmajo’s insistence that the election be administered by Halima Ismail was completely scrapped and an agreement was reached to form a joint commission between the central government and regional administrations.

Below are some of the points agreed upon by the government and the Heads of State.

1-It was agreed that the electorate should be reduced to 101 delegates.

2-It was agreed to disband the Independent Electoral Commission led by Halimo Ismail, with the formation of a joint commission between the Central Government and the Regional Administrations.

3-That the Constituency should be two constituencies for each State.

4-That it is not now possible to hold elections in a party system. And that the election takes place on time.

5-In the next few hours, a communiqué is expected to be issued at the conference, and there are still some minor issues that have not been agreed upon, but the most difficult points have been agreed upon.
