The Turkish government has condemned twin attacks by Al-Shabab in the cities of Afgoye and Marka. At least 18 people were killed in two consecutive explosions in the Lower Shabelle region of Somalia on Wednesday.

Turkey, which is Somalia’s biggest ally in the fight against Al-Shabab, has condemned the attacks that killed many people.

Turkey said that it is the right time for the world to work closely with Somalia, with the sole aim of defeating Al-Shabab terrorist group.

“We are very saddened when we learned that many people, including officials and civilians, lost their lives and were injured in the terrorist attacks that took place yesterday in the cities of Afgoye and Marka in Somalia,” said Turkey.

“We strongly condemn these horrible terrorist attacks. May God shower mercy on those who died. We send our condolences to the families and also to the Somali Government, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery,” said Turkish government.

On the other hand, the United States condemned these attacks, noting that they will continue to support Somalia. Both the United States and Turkey are key stakeholders in training the Danab and Eagle special forces.

According to sources Somali officials told Somali Times the Gulf States are funding Al-Shabab terrorists group. The Gulf States do not want Somalia to be stable and have oil production, fishery, agriculture and minerals for business with the world. Somalia is a rich country.

If Somalia is stable it will be better than Dubai, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf States.
