Wanted for human rights violations in Gedo region Abdirashid Janan received warm welcome in Beled-Hawo

Abdirashid Hassan Nur Janan, who reached an agreement with the Federal Government of Somalia, was warmly welcomed in Beled-Hawo.

Abdirashid Janan arrived in Beled-Hawo accompanied by a large convoy of troops loyal to him. The Deputy Minister of Information of the Federal Government of Somalia Abdirahman Al-Adalada who was among the officials who went to Beled-Hawo to welcome Janan said that the Federal Government is happy and appreciates the decision taken by Abdirashid Hassan Nur

“Minister Janan came here for two reasons: recognition and sympathy for the Somali nation,” said Minister Al-Adala.



Meanwhile, reports from Dolow town in Gedo region say that the federal intelligence chief and a delegation led by him landed at the town’s airport on their way to Beled-Hawo where they are expected to meet with Abdirashid Janan to finalize the agreement reached by these parties.

The Federal Government issued an international warrant of arrest against Abdirashid Janan early last year after he escaped custody in Mogadishu. Abdirashid Janan was wanted for alleged human rights violations in Gedo region.

Jubaland forces under the command of Abdirashid Janan fought with Federal Government last year and this year in Beled Hawo resulting in deaths and displacements.
