The Gedo region in Somalia confirmed that a plane carrying passengers from Nairobi crashed this morning at El Wak airport in Gedo region. The 5Y-GRS was en route to Elwak in Mandera County, according to local sources told Somali Times.
The plane was carrying about 45 people from the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, when it crashed. As many as seven people were injured in the crash, and the plane was damaged after it veered off the runway.
Reports added that the Gedo regional administration has not yet commented on the incident. The situation has now returned to normal, and emergency services have been provided to the crashed plane and all its passengers from Nairobi.
