President Mohamed visits Beledweyne town after floods displaced over 90 Percent of the population




Mogadishu-President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdulahi Mohamed on Monday visited Beledweyne town in Hiiraan region to observe the situation of people displaced by heavy rains and river, Hirshabelle State , President Mr.Mohamed Abdi Ware and other regional officials welcomed President Mohamed delegation who reached the town mid today.

Ninety percent of the Population of the town were displaced by the floods and are having very humanitarian situation outside the town while Hirshabelle State officials demanded emergency aid assistance. According to aid agencies on the ground, close to 150,000 people have been affected after the banks of the Shabelle River burst earlier this week.

The humanitarian disaster has caught aid and relief agencies off guard. showing desperate Beledweyne residents trying to flee to higher ground has sparked an emergency response effort.
