Farmajo asks parliament back to the September 17 2020 agreement

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, in a recent address to the House of Representatives, called them to abandon the recent extension bill and return to the September 17 election process.

The president also said that he will announce from today that he has handed over the administration and security of the election to the Prime Minister of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble.



In his speech, he said he would never accept violence in the country, especially in the capital Mogadishu, where he grew up.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo said opposition leaders of organizing armed youths who he said were intended to cause trouble in the country, particularly in Mogadishu, adding that the government had decided to protect people’s ears from gunshots.

The president walked out of the House after his speech and lawmakers are now expected to decide on the president’s request.
