The President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo today held a joint meeting with the Heads of State and Government, The Speaker of both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia. The President discussed with the officials the importance of moving forward with the outcome of the Mogadishu Electoral Consultative Conference and finalizing the agreement.

The leaders also discussed how to hold timely elections in the country, reflecting the aspirations and progress made by the people and Government of Somalia in recent years, to strengthen stability, unity and peace in the country. The finalization of the election agreement, which will ensure that the elections are held on time.




“The meeting focused on the provisions of the Joint Communiqué issued by the President of the heads of state and the Benadir regional administration on the 17th of this month, which stated in Article 11 that this political agreement will be submitted to the Federal Parliament for ratification.”

President Farmajo urged the Speaker of Parliament to continue to implement the outcome of the Mogadishu Conference and fulfill its constitutional obligation to implement the outcome.

The leaders of the federal government and the country’s administrations recently reached a final agreement on the election dispute, which in recent times has led to further political turmoil. The agreement reached by the leaders in Mogadishu will be presented to members of parliament,
