Hargeisa SNM militia concerned about the lifting of arms embargo Somalia

Hargeisa expressed concern over the arms embargo lifted from Somalia, saying that it could bring insecurity to the region.

A statement issued by the Hargeisa administration expressed concern over the security threat that could be caused by the release of weapons to Somalia.

“The Hargeisa administration is very concerned about the lifting of the arms embargo on Somalia, which has been in place since 1992 and was issued by the United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 733 (1992).”

The Hargeisa administration said that Somalia does not have a good system to control weapons, which can cause weapons to fall into the hands of extremist groups, causing potential damage to the entire security of the region, and create an environment where weapons threaten the stability.

Finally, the Hargeisa administration said that it is proposing to the United Nations Security Council to consider the serious problem of lifting the arms embargo, and to implement a control system.
