The timing of the meeting, which was confirmed by the Kenyan president, is unclear, but it will be the first face-to-face meeting between the two sides since their differences became apparent and have affected both governments.

Corrupt Hassan Sheikh had previously refused to meet with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, on the condition that he first withdraw from the maritime agreement, and it is not known what has now changed that has prompted the meeting between the two officials.

However, previous attempts to welcome him to both countries have failed, after efforts by Turkey, but to no avail.
