Puntland President Deni calls on regional leaders to hold elections

Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has called on the leaders of Galmudug, Hirshabelle and Southwest to hold elections in their areas.

Deni said that regional leaders have a special responsibility to protect the unity and pluralism of the country and that they need to work on implementing elections that are based on consensus.

“The presidents of the remaining regional governments are responsible for holding elections in the country and let them do so, according to the law of the country,” said Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni.

On the other hand, the Puntland President said that any changes made to the interim constitution of Somalia will not be effective and will not work in the country, as he stated.

“This constitution that is being discussed here and the people who are in favor of it cannot go and fight against anyone who will become a constitution. I don’t know if Aden Madoobe and Hassan Sheikh will become a constitution,” said Deni.
