Puntland’s Interior Minister, Abdi Farah Said, made the statement after Puntland seized a ship carrying weapons that was secretly trying to pass through Puntland’s coast without any escort, according to Puntland officials.

The Interior Minister made a serious against the Federal Government of Somalia, describing it as having failed in the tasks entrusted to it, such as preserving unity, implementing the federal system and ensuring security. He said the central government is currently busy dividing the states and fomenting internal conflicts.

“The Federal Government is behind the crises that occurred in Ras Kamboni and Dhahar, with high-ranking officials being held responsible for organizing these wars,” said Minister.

He specifically warned against the influx of weapons into the country, saying that there is no institution fully responsible for protecting these weapons, which could lead to them falling into the hands of terrorist groups such as Al-Shabab and ISIS. The minister cited the example of weapons seized by Al-Shabab from government forces.

The Puntland interior minister’s remarks came after Puntland seized a cargo ship carrying weapons and military equipment, which is currently in the port of Bosaso.
