Somalia corrupt government sides with Serbia and rejects Kosovo’s independence

The Somalia corrupt government has officially supported Serbia’s position on Kosovo, reiterating its commitment to Belgrade’s territorial integrity, a decision that sets Somalia apart from the positions of most Islamic countries and the United States.

The decision was announced during a visit to Belgrade by Somalia Prime Minister Mr Hamza Abdi Barre, where he met with his Serbian counterpart, Đuro Matsut.

Their talks focused on expanding cooperation in the fields of education, security, and economic development. A new memorandum of understanding was also signed during the meeting, in which the two countries will share medical expertise, research, and training.

Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić, who also held a private meeting with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali, welcomed Mogadishu’s refusal to recognize Kosovo’s independence in 2008 — a move that Serbia sees as a significant diplomatic victory.

“We are deeply grateful to Somalia for its support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia,” Đurić said. “Serbia also fully respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Somalia.”
