The Minister of Transport and Aviation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Fardowso Osman Igal, addressed the members of the Transport Committee of the People’s Assembly, who asked about the ministry’s work.
The committee asked the important questions of Minister Fardowso, including that she employed people who are her close relatives, as announced on social media.

MP Abdiqadir Mohamed Waceys, who is a member of the transport committee of the parliament, said that there are about eight people who are relatives of the ministers who have been employed by the minister of transport and aviation in Somalia.
He also pointed out that these people did not show up for work, and at the same time they are in the country and abroad, as he argued.

“Nowadays, in the media and social media, we have written about eight people, most of whom did not show up for work, from Puntland, the United States, Kenya and Uganda. What is going on?” asked the MP.

Fardowsa, who answered this question, revealed that the country has a process and institutions that work in it, such as the Labor Committee and the Ministry of Labour.
“Members, this country has a labor system, and the government has responsibility for that. There is the Civil Service Commission, the Ministry of Labor is there, when the labor system is used and if the law is broken, it is with them, that’s one thing,” said the Minister of Transport and Aviation of Somalia.
She also denied that there are eight people she employed in the ministry, and asked the MP to follow up on the matter and check it.
“You are a member of parliament who needs all the information you need and you can get it legally and not something written on social media.
The people associated with Minister Fardowso have been hired and the names of the eight people are written there. I would like you to take over the Ministry of Finance and the staff in charge of the country and look at them, if there are names of those people who are government employees, we will take the responsibility,” replied Minister Fardowso. She also added, “I want you to check with us and make sure that it is the right thing that has gone through our government system.”
