Somalia president allows Egypt to build military base-sources say

The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud, was warmly welcomed today at the Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Egypt.

President Hassan and the country’s President Abdulfatah Al-Sisi held a critical meeting there to discuss the relationship between the two countries, the current maritime crisis and the new cooperation between the two sides.

The meeting that Hassan and Al-Sisi had today at the Presidential Palace in Cairo was fruitful and the leaders agreed. Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud allows Egypt to build military base, according to sources close to president told Somali Times.

The Egyptian government has recently fully opposed Ethiopia’s ambitions in the Somali Sea, supporting the independence and territorial integrity of Somalia.

Egypt also strongly condemned the controversial agreement signed by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia with the President of Hargeisa administration northern Somalia, which took place on the 1st of this month in Addis Ababa.

This false agreement is a violation of Somalia’s independence, and it has greatly shocked the Somali people wherever they are.

Somalia is welcoming Egypt in particular at this time and it has declared that it stands fully by Somalia, and Ethiopia is its first enemy.
