The Federal Election Implementation Team has accused the National Consultative Assembly of delaying the lower house elections. It demanded that Puntland, Jubaland and Hirshabelle regions to begin the process for the Lower House elections within the next two days or come forth with the reasons for the delay. The ultimatum comes as the opposition has suggested boycotting the process over widespread vote-rigging allegations that have put the credibility of the indirect poll at jeopardy.

The corrupt electoral commission called on the members of the National Consultative Assembly to expedite the polls. So far, less than 30 members have been elected to Somalia’s incoming parliament, with more than 250 members remaining.
