The Somali government has threatened to withdraw from the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) altogether, after an IGAD fact-finding mission on the border dispute between Somalia and Kenya issued a statement disapproving of the Somali government.

Somali Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdirizak said on Wednesday that the commission’s report was biased and unfair, and said the Somali government was considering remaining part of IGAD.

The Somali government has accused Djibouti of collaborating with the Kenyan government as Djibouti spearheaded a fact-finding mission to investigate allegations against the Kenyan government.

Somali Information Minister Osman Dubbe said it was surprising that the commission’s entire report was based solely on the Kenyan government. The commission has not yet issued a statement regarding the Somali government’s arguments against the report.
