The EU has expressed its support for the continuation of political dialogue in Somalia, with EU Ambassador to Somalia Francesca Di Mauro saying that she met with former President Hassan Sheikh and Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni, and they remain ready for dialogue and an inclusive political solution.

Francesca Di Mauro noted that the Somali people will decide the future and political agreement of their country, while the EU hopes for a democratic process based on solidarity, mutual understanding and equal participation.

“I spoke with Hassan Sheikh Mohamud about his views on the recent talks. After speaking with Said Abdullahi Deni yesterday, I understand that both sides are still open to dialogue,” Francesca Di Mauro said in a statement.
