A human rights lawyer has submitted information and evidence to the International Criminal Court (ICC), requesting consideration to open an investigation into former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, Minister of Defense Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur (Fartag), Minister of Internal Security Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail, and the Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Mahad Salad.

The complaint concerns allegations that Mogadishu International Airport was used as a logistical hub and transit point for foreign mercenaries who are alleged to have passed through Mogadishu to support the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the devastating war in Sudan.

The submitted information indicates that the supporting materials include copies of passports of Colombian citizens and individuals alleged to be linked to Emirati intelligence agencies, alongside information on flights and travel documenting entries into and exits from Mogadishu.

Sudanese civilians have suffered unimaginable horrors. If it is proven that Somali territory or government facilities or official authorities were used knowingly to facilitate the movements or operations of forces accused of committing atrocities in Sudan, the truth must be uncovered and all those proven responsible held accountable under the law.

The complaint requests that the ICC’s Office of the Prosecutor independently examine the evidence and determine whether the alleged conduct contributed to the commission of crimes within the Court’s jurisdiction or constituted a violation of applicable international law.

This complaint is not a judgment of guilt, as determining criminal responsibility falls to independent investigators and judicial bodies. Rather, it is a demand for what every victim of this brutal conflict deserves.

The victims of Sudan must not become collateral damage for covert geopolitical maneuvers. No position, title, government, or political relationship should place anyone above accountability and independent investigation.
Let the evidence speak. Let the International Criminal Court investigate. And let justice determine responsibility.
