Prime Minister Roble plans to present in parliament a one year extension for Farmajo

Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble plans to present a surprise plan to parliament tomorrow with a new type of election and a one year extension for President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo according to sources inside Villa Somalia which told Somali Times.

Tomorrow’s parliamentary agenda include an extension, but lawmakers who spoke to Somali Times said it should be submitted in the form of a one year extension.



The international community has repeatedly said political leaders come together to agree on electoral issues.

Meanwhile, members of both houses of the Somali parliament are agreeing on a one year extension to the outgoing government of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo until Somalis elect new leader in the 2021 elections. The Parliament mandate has ended on December 27, 2020. President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo ended his presidency on February 8th 2021.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is in charge until the 2021 election.
