Somalia Prime Minister Hamza went on his first trip to Kenya taking $250,000 dollars with him to spend

The Prime Minister of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, has left for the first time to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, since he was appointed as the Prime Minister of Somalia in June 2022. Hamza received an official invitation from Kenyan President William Ruto to hold talks with him in Nairobi, according to sources told Somali Times Prime Minister Hamza has started corruption for his travels claiming expensive such as travelling to Kenya costing $250,000 dollars, in local travels costing $150,000. If he is visiting his wife and kids living in Cairo costs $600000 to $700000 dollars and all this comes from foreign aid and taxpayer money from the EU, US, UK and the Middle East who donate and support the Somali government.

The purpose of this visit is to strengthen the relationship and cooperation between the two countries, according to a brief statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office.

“The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, who is leading a large delegation, left this morning for Nairobi, Kenya, where he is going on an official visit to strengthen relations and cooperation between the two countries,” said the press release.

The news adds that the trip of Prime Minister Hamza is about reviewing the cooperation between the two countries, including joint security and defence.

There will also be an assessment of aviation, trade, investment, improving the quality of social services and higher education in both countries.

This visit was announced at a time when Kenya is currently planning to enter into a new agreement related to khat with the federal government of Somalia, in order to promote trade.

Former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud who has paid various visits to Nairobi has signed various agreements with his Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto.
