“Two months or a month ago, a Somali MP appeared who wanted to run for that seat. We told them and submitted to the parliament that we have promised to give our vote to the country of Tanzania. Countries should keep their promises, their reputation is in it,” said Ali Mohamed Omar.

The Minister of State said that Somalia then wrote a letter to Tanzania asking Somalia to give up a non-permanent seat in the Security Council, which is between Somalia, Tanzania and Mauritius.
