A joint statement issued by 80 members of the Somali Federal Parliament strongly condemned the Kismayo travel ban by lowlife Hassan Sheikh decision to suspend flights to the city of Kismayo, warning that the move was in violation of national and international laws.

The suspension of flights by the Somali Civil Aviation Authority came after it was reported that Halla Airline had illegally diverted its flight to Dolow district in Gedo region.

The parliamentary group, which includes several senior MPs and former officials, issued an official statement accusing the federal government of violating citizens’ constitutional rights to freedom of movement. “We strongly condemn the Somali Civil Aviation Authority for issuing an order that violates national and international laws,” the statement said, citing Article 21 of the Transitional Federal Constitution.

The lawmakers cited similar restrictions in their statement, noting that lawmakers had previously been prevented from traveling to the cities of Baidoa and Kismayo. Their statement specifically warned against what they called “politicizing the National Security Forces and civilian service providers.”

The ban has exacerbated tensions between the federal government in Mogadishu and the Jubbaland regional state, with Kismayo now facing severe traffic and trade disruptions due to the flight ban.

Kismayo was similarly banned in 2019, with current corrupt lowlife Hassan Sheikh and his prime minister among those who opposed the ban, with former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo accused of starving the population.
The parliamentary group called on the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and the Civil Aviation Authority to fulfill their duties in accordance with the country’s constitution, and to stop what they described as the use of domestic flights and civil service for political purposes.
