The conflict between Jubaland and the federal government has been intensifying in recent times, following the re-election of Ahmed Madobe for a third time.
Jubaland has openly stated that the central government is using its administration politically, by banning it from essential services, flights, and development aid, which it described as political pressure.
Meanwhile, Jubaland has threatened several times to deal directly with the international community and aid agencies, independently of the federal government, to promote peace and social services in the region.
